About Us - Principal's Welcome

On behalf of the school community, I extend a warm welcome to you and your family.
At Hamilton (Gray Street) Primary School we aim to not only develop literate and numerate students but to also provide a broad curriculum that caters to the learning needs of each individual child. We endeavour to ‘bring out each child’s best’ and provide them with the skills necessary to succeed in our ever changing world.
The success of a child’s education relies heavily on a strong partnership between school and home and we encourage families to be heavily invested in the education of their child. We have a strong commitment towards constructing a true learning community, with an emphasis on developing and supporting the social, emotional and academic learning needs of the students.
Our school also has a strong focus on Positive Education to support students in strengthening relationships, building positive emotions, enhancing personal resilience, promoting mindfulness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. This is achieved through our G.A.P. program that focuses on the areas of Gratitude, Appreciation and Positivity.
Hamilton (Gray Street) Primary School delivers our curriculum based on the Victorian Curriculum F-10 consisting of the ‘Learning Areas’  - The Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, The Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Science, and Technologies. The ‘Capabilities’  - Critical & Creative Thinking, Ethical, Intercultural, and Personal & Social -  are areas of knowledge and skills that are taught explicitly in and through the Learning Areas.
Dedicated specialist teachers are responsible for the delivery of:
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths)
  • Physical Education
  • Art
  • Music
Classroom teachers are responsible for the curriculum provision of Languages (AUSLAN – Sign Language) and our G.A.P. Program for Positive Education.
Students also have access to a user pays instrumental music tuition program through visiting specialist music teachers.
Hamilton (Gray Street) Primary School is proud of the education provided to students in Hamilton and surrounding areas and look forward to supporting students, and working with families as a part of our learning community for many years to come.
If you have any queries or would like to contact the school to book an appointment with myself or organise a school tour, I highly encourage you to do so by contacting the Administration Office.
