At Gray Street, wellbeing is central to our school community. We believe that teaching, learning and wellbeing are equally important, and that students thrive academically when they feel safe, valued and connected. We also recognise that staff wellbeing plays a vital role in creating positive learning environments for our students.

Our school values of Relationships, Respect, and Resilience are embedded in everyday practice and guide our work with students, staff and families. These values shape a positive school culture where strong connections are nurtured and every student is known, valued and supported.

Gray Street PS takes a whole-school approach to developing the social and emotional competencies of our students. The Resilience Project supports teachers to deliver explicit and systematic teaching of wellbeing skills across all year levels. This approach aligns with and is supported by the Respectful Relationships (RRRR) Curriculum (Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships).

In addition, we offer a range of programs that explicitly teach and model age-appropriate social and emotional skills. These programs build strong foundations for wellbeing, personal growth and learning success. Through our lunchtime clubs, Peaceful Play and Wellness Wednesday, students develop emotional literacy, coping strategies and confidence in a supportive environment. Gray Street also supports student access to the Standing Tall mentoring program.

Our students and teachers are also supported by our Wellbeing Leader, who works alongside staff to provide personalised tools and targeted strategies to meet the needs of individuals and groups. Our strong partnership with families, along with our connections to community organisations, plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing and growth of every child at Gray Street.
