HGSPS SunSmart School
Hamilton Gray Street Primary School is a SunSmart School and requires all students to wear an approved broad-brimmed hat in Term 1 and Term 4. Students without hats will be required to sit under the Peppercorn Tree during recess and lunch.
From time to time spare hats circulate, but each child must have their own for any school excursion or activity in the sun. We also encourage families to sunscreen their children before school and even provide personal sunscreen for their children.
Sunscreen Tips from the Cancer Council
· Choose SPF 30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen.
· Make sure it is within its use-by date and is stored below 30 degrees.
· It is best to apply a generous amount of sunscreen to any exposed skin around 20 minutes before going outdoors.
· Sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours even if the stated level of water resistance is 4 hours.
